Artist Statement

My interest in the theatrical and how identity is formed was first expressed during my BA at University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion) and now through expressive paintings of my and others’ recorded experiences.

I explore moments of expression, emotion and performance in order to evoke the human condition. Our desire for connection is beautiful and melancholy -after birth, we can never again merge with another.

I want my work to invite a collaboration and communication with the audience through reciprocity, permission and longing. Wall hung paintings, textile hangings, painted antique furniture and bespoke printed fabrics work to form ‘sets’ and ‘props’ to immerse viewers in my world, from a painted chair that invites rest, to a silk hanging that calls to be touched.
