Bio
With artistic family roots in Portmeirion in Wales and the ceramics industry in the Potteries, award-winning artist and designer Rose Fulbright has a deep connection with form, colour and pattern.
Her career includes over ten years as designer, creative and art director of her eponymous slow loungewear brand Rose Fulbright, during which time she lived and worked in Beijing for four years, followed by Brussels for five years.
Rose now lives in London and is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Fine Art at London’s City and Guilds School of Art. In 2024 she was appointed as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painters and Stainers.
Rose’s interest in the theatrical and how identity is formed was first expressed in her BA at University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion) and is now explored through expressive paintings of her own recorded experiences. To express phenomenology she uses methods that record gesture in time, such as painting, drawing, monoprinting and embossing. She explores the painting of and painting on tactile surfaces, from wood and walls to canvas and silk.
Rose’s work invites a collaboration and communication with the audience through reciprocity, permission and longing. Wall hung paintings, textile hangings, painted antique furniture and bespoke printed fabrics work to form ‘sets’ and ‘props’ to immerse viewers in her world, from a painted chair that invites rest, to a silk hanging that calls to be touched.
Rose is represented by Interrupted Art , A Space for Art and Gallery Tresco.
