Portmeirion

Painted during a one week residency, five vintage furniture pieces were chosen from the Portmeirion Village stores, no longer needed in the Hotel and cottages. Rose was also pleased to be asked to paint a table from the Doll’s House, used by her predecessors.

Rose grew up visiting Portmeirion every other weekend, where her wider family is based. The natural beauty of the Village and North Wales gave her a deep connection with nature, form and colour.

Rose imbued the pieces with her own feelings and memories of Portmeirion - producing an unusual range with a distinct Portmeirion feeling. Rhododendrons from the woods, ribbons and trees over the Estuary all feature in her work.

This Residency was kindly supported by the Susan Williams-Ellis Foundation, as well as Annie Sloan Chalk Paints, who supplied all paints and materials.
